Apples, cherries and pears account for almost $3 million of Washington’s agricultural sales, making tree fruit an indispensable part of the state’s crop economy. That’s why 70% of Washington tree fruit growers trust PayneWest.
The Agribusiness Practice of PayneWest Insurance, located in Yakima, WA, consists of a knowledgeable team of professionals. As long time members of the Washington State Tree Fruit Association and the Washington Apple Education Foundation, we’re devoted to studying the industry and supporting our Ag clients through dedicated risk management.
Jeff Widdows has worked in the business insurance industry for over 15 years and his team specializes in insuring the unique risks associated with the tree fruit and hop industries. Jeff obtained degrees in accounting, finance and economics from New Mexico State University and uses these to assist in the settlement of large losses for clients of all types and size. Jeff currently sits on the National Advisory Boards for both Fireman’s Fund and Chubb Agribusiness, two of the largest providers of insurance for the fruit and hop industries.
Ron Snyder joined PayneWest in 2016 and brings over 30 years of experience as a commercial insurance sales executive — 25 years of which have been spent in agribusiness. After graduating from the University of Washington in 1984, he grew up in the fruit culture, working in orchards and later in fruit warehouses, so his knowledge of the industry comes from first-hand experience. His clients range from food processors to fruit growers, and from manufacturers to public entities. Ron’s professional areas of focus include fruit packing and storage facilities, manufacturing, and public entities.
